Word converts MathML on the clipboard into its own equation format using the MML2OMML
transform that ships with Office. It is Word's conversion, not ours, so coverage depends on
which Word you are running. One paste of this page answers which constructs make it.
How to run it
- Select the whole table (click above it and drag to the end, or
Ctrl/Cmd+A).
- Copy.
- Paste into a blank Word document. Use Keep Source Formatting if asked.
- Click each equation. A converted one becomes an editable Word equation with the
Equation ribbon; a failed one stays as plain text, an image, or arrives mangled.
- Note the numbers that failed — those are the constructs to either avoid or fix.
Worth repeating on Word for Windows, Word for Mac and Word on the web: the three have
historically differed, and Word on the web is the weakest.
